Purpose: To learn directions such as right, left, straight, forward and backward, and to learn loops, repeat and repeat until.

Material Required

Chalk, and any object to use as treasure, such as a water bottle, book, pen or pencil.

Prior Knowledge

Students should know:

  • The names of the directions.

    Exercise 1



    1. Introduce directions. A real activity for students using chalk - a directions activity covering forward, backward and straight.

    ⟹Students may draw a grid of 5 rows and 5 columns on the floor.

    ⟹Place any object in the R3C3 box(R-Row, C-Column).

    ⟹One student gives the directions and another student moves according to those directions, to finally reach the box where the object is placed. If this is done correctly, the student gets 1 point.

  • Teacher Instructions
    1. Even if it takes time, make the students draw the boxes on the floor themselves.
    2. Teachers should explain what a table or grid is before the exercise.
    3. Use the terms "Move forward", "Turn left", "Turn right", "Backward" and "Straight", etc. while teaching, so that students become familiar with them.
